Serial Killer Files – Bloodthirsty female serial killers
Vicious and thirsty for blood, these infamous female serial killers made their mark with their atrocious killings. What sets them apart from other women serial killers was that they enjoy torturing and mutilating their victims. What drove them to commit these grisly acts? Does Occult practice in search for eternal beauty has something to do with it?
With the exemption of Belle Gunness, the other three female serial killers were bored noble wives whose mode of entertainment was by killing people. If only violent video games were available back then, perhaps the body count would be a lot less.
Countess Elizabeth Báthory
Hungarian Countess Erzerbet Bathory was famously known as the “Blood Countess” and “Blood Lady of the Csejte” for torturing and murdering approximately 600 young women. Undoubtedly, she’s the most prolific woman serial killer of all time. Her only rival would be Vlad Dracula. With her husband frequently away to war, the Countess amuses herself by torturing and killing yound maidservants. Rumor has it that Elizabeth Bathory practice occult in order to maintain her youthful looks by bathing with the blood of her victims.
Initially, the peasant girls were recruited as maidservants in the castle, the countress then starts her sadistic plans. She tortures and mutilates the girls after inflicting all sorts of abuse. After she runs out of peasant girls to kill, she then set her eyes on daughters of the lower gentry. The girls were promised education at the gynaeceum to learn courtly etiquette, little did they know they will get more than that.
Suspicions for the murders grew louder when it was impossible to cover up her grisly crimes and alarming number of missing girls. It was only after her husband’s death when the countess and her collaborators were tried for the disappearance and deaths of young women. Witnesses testified against Bathory that she carried out her crimes not only at Csejte but also in other places such as Sárvár, Sopronkeresztúr, Pozsony and Vienna. It was known that Bathory also kept a journal which kept a record of the victims and other grisly accounts. The said journal is currently stored at the Budapest Archives, but the written contents remained obscure due to handwriting in an old language and disturbing content.
Delphine LaLaurie
Madame Lalaurie or known as Marie Delphine Macarty an american socialite in New Orleans who happens to be a female serial killer who has allegedly tortured and killer approximately 100 black slaves. Neighbors were alarmed at Madame Lalaurie’s maltreatment toward her slaves by beating them ferociously. One of her 12 year old servant girl tried to escape from her mistress’ repeated whippings that she fell from the balcony to her death. Due to her alarming treatment to her slaves, Judge Jean Francois Canonge ordered to have the slaves confiscated and put up for auction. Unfortunately, Lalaurie’s relatives bought the slaves and promptly returned to Lalaurie. When the fire broke out into Lalaurie’s kitchen on April 10, 1834, it was discovered that the two slaves were chained to the stove caused the fire to get the attention. The firemen were shocked at what they found at the attic. The slaves were caged like animals, some were dying and body parts were scattered. The place was a makeshift laboratory where slaves were subjected to bizzare experimentation. Eyes and mouth were sewn shut and others were had their entrails displayed out of their bodies. Angry mobs were after the Lalaurie’s upon learning the cruelty that were inflicted to the slaves. It was too late for the mobs to persecute Lalaurie when she hastily fled from New Orleans. Since her escape, nobody knows her whereabouts which remained a mystery until today.
Darya Nikolayevna Saltykova
Darya Nikolayevna Saltykova, a russian noblewoman with a reputation as a russian woman serial killer. She has tortured and killed more than 138 of her female servants. Like Elizabeth Bathory, she gets satisfaction from torturing and killing, most of her victims were particularly women and young girls. Due to her influence to the royal court, she was able to get away with the murders. However, Empress Catherine II intervened when relatives of the victimes brought a petition. The empress had Darya Saltykova arrested and had the estate investigated. After 6 years of investigation, Saltykova was found guilty of 138 murders. With death penalty abolished in Russia, the empress had a hard time finding appropriate ways to punish her. Instead she had Saltykova chained in platform for public display with a sign hanging on her neck that says, “This woman has tortured and murdered.” People flocked around her when she was on display. Finally, she was thrown into the basement of convent where she was imprisoned for the rest of her life.
Belle Sorenson Gunness
Among other female serial killers, Belle Sorenson Gunness was a unattractive, burly and heavy built woman. She has killed more than 40 people, her victims included her husband, two daughters, suitors and lovers. Her primary motive in committing crime is to collect insurance money upon her victim’s death. Her modus operandi consists of placing person ads seeking suitor as a well-off widow with large farm.
“Personal – comely widow who owns a large farm in one of the finest districts in La Porte County, Indiana, desires to make the acquaintance of a gentleman equally well provided, with view of joining fortunes. No replies by letter considered unless sender is willing to follow answer with personal visit. Triflers need not apply.”
When a prospective suitor came to visit her, she’s charming and hospitable towards him. She carries out her killing spree in various ways .After drugging her victim, she splits his head with a meat chopper. For other victims she waits for them to retire to bed, then she drugs them with chloroform before carrying them for dissection. When she’s in a hurry, she just poisons them with strychnine. To dispose the bodies, she dumps it into a vat then cover it with quick lime. When she’s tired, she simply chops up the body then fed it to the pigs. Unfortunately before the long arm of the law could take hold of her, she staged her own death by burning a house leaving her dead children behind and a headless corpse of a woman. Nobody knows where she ran off to, and if she has resumed her criminal activities.
